So there is an iceberg about things neil cic has done or things relating to him or whatever. it was made about 4 years ago iirc. i thought this was cool when i found out about it, so i decided to write in depthly or not so about every topic on the iceberg unless i was literally unable to find more info about it. thankfully the mumbergo site has a page linking to most ofthe enteries so my job is alot easier, but i think expaining it in depth as if i were a shitty youtuber like wendigoon 4 years ago when he was good is also alot funner than just linking to them. more fun whatever. i'm about 75% done, i need to write info for all the enteries in 2 tiers and revise the writing for pretty much all the other ones because quote "I have a tendency to say fucked up incoherent shit in .txt files", but i don't want to just keep this on my laptop with no one able to view it so i'm posting the completed tiers here as i finish them. yeah
TEIR 0 [space]
- potter puppet pals is a series neil cicierega made and put on his youtube channel [and an alternate youtube channel as well specifically for the series]. it featured exaggerated and satirical versions of the harry potter characters as puppets, puppeteered by him and his friends/family and voiced by him. it started as like 2 old flash animations which started as drawings his sister did that were released in idk 2002 or something and were well received. he stopped making the videos in like the early/mid 2010s or so, but they were very very popular at the time [most popular being mysterious ticking noise which has like 200m views iirc] and they even puppeteered live or did live shows idk the proper phrasage.
- ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny is a song released in dec 2005 [and l8r released officially on the dinosaurchestra album under the lemon demon name] which accompanied a flash animation done by shawn vulliez that was posted to newgrounds. it is by far one of the most well known songs he has made; pretty much every live show he did included it, everyone knew about it [so i'm told], an alternate version was included on rock band network or whatever the it's called, etc.
- brodyquest is a video released onto the neil cicierega youtube channel in around 2010. it features adrien brody walking from left to right visiting different locations to the beat of a song neil made specifically for the video. it was heavily remixed by internet users, and even got an official megamix with a new video and fan mashups that were displayed live in 2012. the song used in the back was l8r released on the nature tapes ep under the lemon demon pseudonym.
TIER 1 [sky]
- two trucks is a single by lemon demon, initially released circa 2013 but l8r put on the nature tapes ep in 2014. it satirizes overly patriotic americans and hyper-masculinity, and most notably talks indepth about two trucks having sexual intercourse and l8r holding hands. this caused it to become a smallish meme, with internet users making jokes and referencing it so much that many in the lemon demon community especially got tired of it and it stopped being funny. the jokes fizzled out i haven't seen people joking about it recently oh well.
- bustin' is a remix of the ghostbusters theme that got made into a video and posted on the neil cicierega youtube channel in 2015, and was l8r released officially on the mouth moods mashup album under neil cicierega's name. it takes the line "busting makes me feel good" from the original song and runs with it. it also mentions sleeping l8r in the track so it's not completely sexual.
- aimkid is a creator notable for her animations which often contain lemon demon songs and that have gotten popular and to an extent memed. most notable of these is the modify animation which made the song popular on apps like tiktok and sparked a sort of trend where people would add blood to the animation [i'm not the only person who remembers this], but other animations like the one for soft fuzzy man were also pretty big. eventually aimkid got to make the art for the between the frames view-monster vinyl released by needlejuice but i'm getting ahead of myself.
- windows 95 tips tricks and tweaks is a tumblr blog neil cicierega created in like the 2010s that parodied the style of windows 95 popups to make it seem like the operating system was alive and bloodthirsty, whatever that means.
- ariel needs legs is a comic drawn by neil cicierega which suprised me. the idea and writing is also by him i guess. it features little mermaid ariel getting 8 legs from ursala instead of 2 like most people and still managing to pull a nerdy white guy who knows about pokemon. it was initially uploaded on neil's tumblr and then youtube, where it became a meme because of the eight legs seven vaganias line.
- the count censored is a song edit neil cicierega made of a seasome street song where the word count is censored to make it sound like the character is talking about fucking. a video edit was later made by a youtube user combining the original clip with the edited audio which got popular.
TIER 2 [tip of the iceberg]
- spirit phone/nature tapes/view-monster/dinosaurchestra are i believe four entries i've grouped into one because they are all albums released under the lemon demon name that are pretty well known among his fanbase, probably because they all have popular songs on them.
- spirit phone was released 2016/02/29 and is dare i say the most popular album of the four mentioned. hit tracks include touch-tone telephone, cabinet man, and eighth wonder, though all of the tracks are pretty well known and liked in the fandom.
- nature tapes was released 2014/03/24 and has more vulgar songs compared to the rest of his musical works and is an ep consisting of singles that are all popular for some reason.
- view-monster was released 2008/08/01 and is noteworthy for the fact that all the even numbered tracks are short ambient instrumentals meant to make transitions between the odd numbered songs smoother. songs that have gotten popular are anmesia was her name, and modify which isn't even a main track because most of his albums have like a dozen bonus tracks
- dinosaurchestra was released 2006/07/20, i could go on a rant about the themes featured in it and why i think it's one of if not his best album but i won't because that would bore me. maybe next time. popular tracks are the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiney [mentioned earlier in tier 0], and fine.
- lenny kravitz fly away lyrics is a video neil cicierega made parodying the windows movie maker lyric videos popular in the late 2000s but with the song fly away by lenny kravitz, except the song is heavily sentence mixed so that mr kravitz sounds like he's saying some crazy shit like wanting to eat the sun and being a dragonfly, a milky way advertisement is also sampled. not much more to say really
- needlejuice is neil's record label. he got signed to them sometime after the release of spirit phone so maybe 2018ish. they've made a shit ton of merchandise relating to lemon demon, mainly physical copies of albums but they also sell other things. recently they've paired with youtooz to make a plushie and figurine, which is noteworthy but it doesn't have its own entery because this was made in around 2020 so i'm mentioning it here, i hate the youtooz collab.
- guide to x videos are a series of videos neil cicierega made in the mid to late 2010s where he'd give summaries of popular movie or show series' but with ridiculous names for who or whatever he was talking about. these as you can imagine got pretty popular among people who were already fans of the original works.
- haircut is an interactive video uploaded to youtube. neil cicierega sings about you choosing to get a haircut or not, there are many wildly different endings as is to be expected of the interactive video genre. it's drawn by his sister emmy. th e music slaps
- animutations are absurdist flash animations made by neil when he was like 13. they usually consisted of random images he found saved on his computer dancing on screen while japenese music played. surprisingly they gained a following and people started mimicking the style and making what were called "fanimutations". neil cicierega even got interviewed about them by a human from salon.com and some people say they were the basis of internet comedy as seen today but that's besides the point. they eventually lost traction and now only people born around 1980 remember them.
- what's dylan grillin'? is a video showing a game where bob dylan stands infront of a grill and the player has to guess what in fact dylan is grillin'. he's shown to be grilling some random shit like irish people and balls as the recorder/player gets increasingly ensapled[?] due to being unable to leave or get instructions on how to play. at the end the player insults sir dylan to which the game glitches out and he becomes a broken record.
- the mouth albums [mouth sounds, mouth silence, mouth moods, mouth dreams] are mashup albums neil cicierega released under his government name. his powerword. they are notable for referencing smash mouth all star enough times that people who don't give a shit for sample based music will say that's all they're about, BUT THAT'S NOT TRUE AND I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY or imply THAT, frick ^ _ ^;. it is however of my opinion that mouth sounds and neil cicierega's clowning [more on that later] in general is what primarily caused smash mouth jokes to become as popular as the were, so i guess that being what the quadriligy is known for isn't that wacky, but i digress.
- mouth sounds was released 2014/04/27 and commits necrozoophilic acts on the dead horse that is smash mouth all star. it also features other bits like the full house theme etc etc but no one cares about that.
- mouth silence was released on 2014/07/19 iirc, and is smash mouth free. it focuses on semicharmed life with two tracks on the album sampling it heavily, and it contains more artists compared to mouth sounds.
- mouth moods was released j anuary 23 2017 and heavily refrences the first two mouth albums [this is a topic i'm passionate about and i could rant for hours] and focuses on the song one week with atleast three tracks sampling it.
- mouth dreams was released 2020/09/30 and contains much simpler mashups [as opposed to the first three which have mashups primarily containing three or more songs] and has an overarching theme of sleep and ofcourse dreams and greenday i guess.
i could go on a rant about the mouth albums and why they are actually the best things neil cic has made [hyperbole] but i would never stop.
TIER 3 [shallow water]
- clown circus/live from the haunted candleshop/hip to the javabean/damn skippy/live only not/i am become christmas are all grouped together because they are all lemon demon albums, specifically the less popular ones more surface level fans don't pay as much attention to. that's not to say they're not well liked or whatever, but newer fans may not know of them hence why they're in this tier. i won't go over them all specifically because i don't have much interesting to say in all honesty, but
- clown circus/live from the haunted candleshop/hip to the javabean/damn skippy are the first four lemon demon albums, released between 2003 and 2005, and are available for free at lemondemon.com.
- live (only not) is an ep released 2011 of remade lemon demon songs, with the live band members doing the instruments instead of neil.
- i am become christmas is an ep released 2012 featuring christmas songs.
- something glowing vinyl refers to something glowing ep, which is a record that has some of the view-monster bonus tracks that couldn't be put on the original rerelease due to space constraints. this iceberg was also made before the other ep and single, acrobat unstable record and one weird tip/funkytown respectively were released, so i'll include them here. acrobat unstable record is the same pretty much just with the dinosaurchestra bonus tracks, and one weird tip/funkytown is a single containing the titular songs.
- guaranteed* video is the name ryan murphy, kevin james, and the other guy go under for their podcasts, short films, and livestreams. they used to go by a different name like 15 years ago but that's neither here nor there and it'll probably be mentioned a few tiers down.
- neil cicierega internet person is a video uploaded to youtube of neil's speech he gave at xoxo which was a festival internet creatives would commonly speak at. the thumbnail image has become somewhat of a meme in his fanbase, probably heightened by the fact it's his image on wikipedia.
- trapezoid, now called deporitaz, is what neil cicierega went by and released music under before moving onto lemon demon. he initially named himself this because he liked the shape, apparently. squareS? hell no, give it a little tilt give it some flavor. he also has accounts on atleast two different websites using the name or an alternate spelling with two "z"s instead.
- funkytown is a lemon demon song originally released sometime in 2017. as i mentioned before, it was then released with the song one weird tip as a single. the song itself references old 80s songs most notably FUNKYTOWN which the narrator acts like is an actual place that's killed his bloodline {hyperbole}.
- physical edition secrets refers to the secrets found in the physical versions of his albums released by needlejuice. there are different ways to find the hidden tracks for all the albums depending on the medium you're listening to them on so i won't dwell on how, also because i find it boring.
